Using Adobe XD for a year as a young designer

Unmesh Gite's experience using Adobe XD for a year

Hello, I'm Unmesh Gite. I am a 20-year-old self-taught UI/UX designer from Mumbai, India.

So, I have been learning UI/UX design from a year now and as a navie in this field, I was pretty much overwhelmed with various tools in the market both free and paid. As I have used Adobe's Photoshop, I was more interested to try Adobe XD. The good part of XD is that it can do both — Visual Design and Animated Prototypes and it is a vector-based tool, unlike Photoshop.

Why XD is my weapon of choice

Simplicity and usability matters because it is hard to design rich interfaces if using a tool or software which is complex to understand and frustrating to use.

The main reason I use Adobe XD because of its simplicity and I learned the entire tool in one or two weeks — literally.

I use Adobe XD for almost everything, UI design, Prototyping, Designing posts for Dribbble, Instagram, Twitter and also for designing presentations for Behance.

In my opinion, it is a great all-in-one tool for young designers like me and I have been using XD for almost a year now. Also, XD rolls out a new update every month featuring app improvements and new exciting features.

Here are some of the projects that I have made in this year using Adobe XD and while improving my craft :

1️⃣ IRCTC App UI Redesign — Train Booking App

This was the first UI design concept project which I made in Adobe XD.

2️⃣ Uber Redesign Concept 2019

This one is my favorite project where I almost every feature of XD to make this project. I design the UI screens and animated and prototyped the whole experience in XD itself.

I even designed the Behance presentation in XD and later added animated gifs in Photoshop.

After publishing this project on Behance and other social platforms like Twitter and Dribbble, I received appreciation from Adobe XD on twitter 🕺🕺 . I was completely surprised and thrilled after reading their tweets.

3️⃣ Fitness App Design for Cyclists and Runners

I just designed these projects for fun and to explore some new features of XD

4️⃣ Music App UI Kit

The Music App UI Kit is a component-based UI Kit designed exclusively for Adobe XD. This Kit features fully-customizable components, including UI elements, colors, typography.

6️⃣ Paint AI App

This is the best project I have ever made.

PAINT is an app concept that lets you visualize the look of your house, before even painting. Using AI, this app identifies walls, roofs, and floors, so that you can explore different colors, textures and intelligent recommendations with a touch and lets you save those explorations in a mood board.
